The Varsity Warriors played catch up all night long against the Saints, rallied from a 6 - 3 halftime deficit to finally take the lead in the 4th quarter and held on for a 10 - 9 victory at the Fallbrook Football Stadium Wednesday evening. The Saints built leads of 2 - 0, 3 - 1 and 5 - 2 during play in the first half as the Warriors struggled early to settle in on both offense and defense.
Tenacious play at the Faceoff X enabled Fallbrook to gain ball possession for much of the second half. Those possessions were critical during the third quarter as the Warriors closed the scoring gap to a one goal differential three separate times, only to see St. Augustine score another goal immediately after Fallbrooks' score. The Warriors again rallied late in the 3rd quarter to close the scoring gap and headed into the 4th quarter down 8 - 7.
As the momentum was shifting towards the Warriors, aggessive play would prove to be the difference in the fourth quarter as Fallbrook scored four goals while limiting the Saints to only one goal during the last 12 minutes of play. The Warriors were up 10 - 8 with under two minutes to go, and had ball possession, but a turnover, ground ball lead to a transitional goal for St. Augustine with approximately 1:17 left in the game. The next critical Faceoff was won by Fallbrook which moved the ball into the restraining box with the intent to run out the clock. A Cross-check penalty on the Saints with 47.5 seconds remaining in the game resulted in Fallbrook going man-up, enabling them to hold the ball and run out the clock to end the game.
Game statistics were not available at press time, so please check back for an update.

The Boys Varsity and JV teams fell to the Lancers on Monday night in Carlsbad. The Varsity Boys played a strong first half, holding Carlsbad to a 1 - 0 score after one quarter and headed into halftime down by a 4 - 1 deficit. Faceoffs would ultimately hold the Warriors back in sustaining offensive possessions as they only won one (1) faceoff the entire game while Carlsbad dominated the Faceoff X, winning 11.
So. Middie Scott Vancil continued his point-scoring streak, accounting for the only two goals for Fallbrook. Sr. Goalie Axel Eyer had another strong game between the pipes, registering 12 saves on the night. Axel's play in goal enabled the Warriors to keep it close until midway through the 3rd quarter when Carlsbad began to take control of the game.
The JV Warriors had a tough outing against the JV Lancers and were unable to score any goals. Jr. Tony Biondi had a another strong performance in net.
The Varsity squad will play St. Augustine at home on Wednesday at 6 PM.

In a contest involving evenly matched teams, the Warriors fell short of the upset in losing a heartbreaker to SDA, 10 - 8, in San Diego on Wednesday evening. Fallbrook hung close for much of the game, battling back from numerous deficits to take a brief 6 - 5 lead after halftime. The Warriors trailed 5 - 4 at the break, scoring late in the second quarter to make it close heading into the second half.
Trailing 9 - 8 nearly mid-way through the fourth quarter, the Warriors were flagged for an questionable Tripping foul with SDA carrying the ball in their offensive box. On the Trip, the ball hit the ground thus the play should have been whistled dead, however the officials allowed play to continue and SDA spun the ball quickly and scored the decisive goal, making the score 10 - 8. The Warriors would not be denied and thought they had scored their ninth goal with approximately 33 seconds left in the contest but a time-out called by Head Coach Neil Rodden just seconds prior to the score negated the goal. The Warriors retained possession for the remainder of the quarter but were unable to record another shot-on-goal.
The Warriors were lead by Sr. Attackman Erik Jenkin's 2 goals and 2 assists, So. Attackman Austin Jenkin's 2 goals and 1 assist, Sr. Middie Jared Yeatman's 2 goals, So. Middie Scott Vancil's 1 goal and 1 assist and Fr. Middie Bill Osterman's 1 goal. Sr. Goalie Axel Eyer continued his stellar performance this season between the pipes, registering an astounding 20 saves (in back-to-back games) on 30 SOG's, an incredible 67% save total. Axel even managed to initiate two Clears during the game.
The JV Boys played a great game that saw the lead change six times and had the lead late in the game only to wind up tying the SDA JV 7 - 7. For information about the game will posted soon.

The Warrior Varsity Boys received a hat trick from So. Middie Scott Vancil, however Torrey Pines dominated the game in all phases and cruised to a 15 - 3 victory on Monday night in Del Mar. The game score was 10 - 1 in favor of TP at halftime, however the Warriors were able to keep the scoring down in the second half and achieved some success by banging in two goals while limiting TP to five goals after the break.
Although the score was one-sided, another bright spot for Fallbrook was the play of Sr. Goalie Axel Eyer. Axel was tested early and often but amazed 20 saves while only allowing 15 goals, an excellent save percentage of 57. TP attempted 56 total shots for the game.
The JV Boys found it difficult to generate much offense against the TP defense and lost it's battle as well. Jr. Middie David Handy had the only two goals scored by Fallbrook while Jr. Goalie Anthony Biondi made 11 saves in the loss.
Up next for the Warrior teams is a trip to San Dieguito Academy on Wednesday evening.

Fallbrook started strong, controlling the opening faceoff and scoring the games' first goal, however the Vaqueros would slowly gain control of the game and won going away, 10 - 4, on a cloudy, cool Saturday afternoon in Lakeside. El Capitan built a 5 - 3 halftime lead and won every faceoff in the second half to put a strangle hold on any comeback attempts by the Warriors. El Capitan amazed 57 ground balls to the Warriors 36 but Fallbrook had better scoring opportunities throughout the contest, actually outshooting the Vaqueros 38 - 31. The Warriors now stand at 2 - 2 for the season while El Capitan improves to 2 - 3.
Sr. M Jared Yeatman lead the Warriors with 2 goals, followed by So. M Scott Vancil's 1 goal and 1 assist. Sr. A Erik Jenkin added 1 goal while Sr. A Kyle Leonard added one assist. Sr. G Axel Eyer was solid in goals once again, registering 14 saves in the loss but was overshadowed by the El Capitan goalie who stopped 20 shots, many of them point-blank in the closing two minutes of the game.
Fallbrook plays its next game Monday night at Home against Mira Mesa at 7:30 PM.
The JV Boys continued their winning ways, posting a 6 - 2 win against the Vaqueros JV team. The Warriors built a slow but comfortable lead by halftime and appeared to be on their way to a shutout when a missed ball exchange between Jr. D Carlos Martinez and Jr. G Tony Biondi resulted in a gift-goal for El Capitan. That goal happened in the early stages of the fourth quarter but by then, the Warriors truly had the game in-hand.
Scoring details were not available as of Sunday night. Please check back for an update in the next day or so.

The Warriors played a back-and-forth game against the Golden Bears on Wednesday evening in Temecula, fell behind early but rallied to victory with the decisive goals in the second half. The second consectuive win evens their record at 2 - 2 on the season. Jr. Middie David Handy had a big night for the Warriors, contributing a 3 goal hat-trick while winning a majority of the faceoffs. Jr Attackman Robert Richardson, who plays M/LSM when needed as well, added one goal and one assist.
It was a big night for three other players, as Jr. D Keith Mielke, So. Middie Kaj McLaughlin and Fr. Attackman Joe Sichi all scored their first career goals. Keith's goal started with a ground ball in the defensive zone and a rush into the box where with almost no time remaining in the first half, he released a shot that found the back of the net as time expired. Keith's goal proved to be critical as it enabled Fallbrook to stay close in the game heading into the second half. Jr. G Tony Biondi battled the sun in the first quarter when TVHS took the early lead but played strong for the remaining three quarters and recorded 8 saves on the evening that included a few point blank shot saves to keep the game close throughout the contest.
Congratulations to the JV Boys on a hard fought victory!! The Warriors play at El Capitan on Saturday at 11 AM.
